Are You Ready to Connect to Gas?

Preparing your site for a new gas connection

Access

The site must allow clear access for field crews to be able to complete work on site.

Markings

Site to be clearly marked with identification for our crews to be able to locate e.g. Lot number/House number

Location

Proposed gas meter location must be identified as per distributor's requirements. Meter location must be accessible for reading and maintenance (e.g. not behind a gate). The meter must be protected if proposed location is within 1 metre of vehicle traffic.

Clean and clear

The site must be clean and clear for our crews to be able to safely complete works.

New builds

Build must be at lock up stage, and proposed gas meter location and street should be clear from:

      • Scaffolding or temporary fencing
      • Rubbish or building materials
      • Skip bins and toilets
      • Machinery

Existing homes

Similarly, we require unobstructed access to the proposed gas meter location and its’ direct line from the street.

Is your site ready?

Gas connection timeframes

Prepare Your Site for a New Gas Connection

Before we can install your new gas connection, your site needs to be safe and ready. Use this checklist to avoid delays.

Site Ready Example

This photo meets the site ready criteria.

There is nothing in the path of the service, the pile of bricks in the photo are far enough away (1.5m away) that they should not distract from the service installation.

Site Not Ready Example

This photo does not meet the site ready criteria.

Site is still under construction. Photo clearly shows there is still scaffolding, building materials and rubbish at the property. We cannot connect if these are in the wayScaffolding from neighbour's property must also not obstruct the path to connection.
