From 1 October 2026, the charging framework changes to a beneficiary pays approach, where the connecting customer will pay the efficient costs associated with their connection. For more information on these changes click here.
For information related to the rules for connection applications lodged prior to 1 October 2026, click here.
Connection charges will be based on on the specific work required to deliver an individual customer's connection. This means connection costs will vary depending on the type and complexity of the connection.
Terrain: The physical characteristics of the land.
Network availability: Gas being available and network augmentation requirements.
Distance from the gas supply: How far your property is from the existing gas supply.
Pipe diameter required: The size of the pipes necessary to meet your gas needs.
Gas main design and construction: Planning and building the extension to the gas main.
Impact on existing infrastructure: Effects on current driveways, footpaths, and roads.
Environmental impact: Considerations for the local environment.
Restoration costs: On the day of the connection, Jemena will complete a temporary restoration to Council land only. The permanent restorations will be completed by the Local Council at a later date.
Traffic disruption: Including necessary traffic and pedestrian control measures, based on economic viability.
After submitting an application via your preferred energy retailer, or with Jemena directly in My Portal, we'll assess your requirements and provide an offer outlining the connection scope and applicable charges.
Make sure you provide complete and accurate details (as requested) in your application. This will help to avoid impacts to the scope and price, as well as delays or variances to the delivery of your connection service. If incorrect or inaccurate information is provided, the offer may be cancelled by Jemena and a new one issued reflecting the true requirements of the site.
We encourage customers, builders, developers and plumbers to lodge a connection application as early as possible in the project planning process to understand the costs and timelines associated with that connection.
The prices shown in the table below are a guide only, and are not a quote or guarantee of the final connection cost. Prices include GST.

Every application is assessed on its own merits, and actual charges may vary based on site conditions, connection requirements, network constraints, and any additional works required. Jemena will determine the appropriate connection type and final charges following assessment of the application.
Customers should not rely on these guide prices for budgeting, contractual commitments, property purchases, construction decisions, or any other commercial purpose without obtaining a formal assessment from Jemena. Submission of an application does not guarantee eligibility for a particular connection type or price range. Final charges will only be confirmed after Jemena's assessment is complete.
If your application meets the eligibility requirements of Jemena's Model Standing Offer, your connection will be assesed and priced in accordance with those terms. Any applicable connection charges will be outlined in your offer. Full details can be found here.
Applications received by Jemena Gas Networks before 1 October 2026 will continue to be managed under the connection charging arrangements and terms and conditions that applied when the application was submitted.
If you have received a connection offer, you should review the offer terms and ensure it is accepted within the stated validity period. Applications submitted before 1 October 2026 are not impacted by the new connection charging framework, provided the offer remains valid and is accepted within the applicable timeframe.
If an offer expires and a new application is required after 1 October 2026, or an application must be resubmitted because it was materially incomplete or contained incorrect information, the application may be assessed under the new connection charging arrangements.
To help avoid delays or the need for resubmission, customers should ensure all required application information is complete and accurate when applying.
Previously, some connection costs were recovered through broader network pricing arrangements. When assessing connection charges for new connection service applications lodged prior to 1 October 2026, the following principles are applied in accordance with the National Gas Rules and Jemena Gas Networks Access Arrangement (2025-2030):
Jemena Gas Networks must demonstrate to the Australian Energy Regulator that all capital and operating expenditures are economically and technically sound.
