Jemena has introduced new technology that regulates the voltage of electricity supplied to homes and businesses as more rooftop solar is installed across our electricity network.
Volt-Var Control (VVC) is a dynamic voltage management technology that ensures voltages remain within the required range and helps protect the power quality of the network.
After a successful trial in 2024 confirmed that this new technology can maintain electricity supply voltages when faced with voltage fluctuations caused by the growth in rooftop solar, Jemena is now implementing the VVC technology across its electricity network.
This means that more of our customers will be able to install solar without causing voltage issues or experiencing limits to the amount of excess electricity they can export back into the grid.
