Maintaining supply reliability in the South Morang supply area
 

South Morang Terminal Station (SMTS) is located in South Morang in Melbourne’s northeastern suburbs in Victoria and supplies electricity to more than 155,000 customers within the AusNet Electricity Services Pty Ltd (AusNet) and Jemena Electricity Network (JEN) distribution service areas. This project relates to the transmission connection assets at SMTS and is subject to a regulatory investment test for transmission (RIT-T).

Regulatory Investment Test for Transmission (RIT-T) - Project Specification Consultation Report (PSCR)

This project specification consultation report (PSCR) is the first stage of the South Morang Supply Area RIT-T consultation process and has been jointly prepared by AusNet and JEN in accordance with the requirements of clause 5.16 of the National Electricity Rules (NER) and section 4.2 of the RIT-T Application Guidelines. This notice contains information to enable prospective non-network and standalone power system (SAPS) providers to propose alternative credible options, including demand-side response or embedded generation and storage solutions.

AusNet and JEN invites written submissions and enquiries on the matters set out in this PSCR from interested stakeholders. All submissions and enquiries should be titled “South Morang Supply Area RIT-T” and directed to both rittconsultations@ausnetservices.com.au and PlanningRequest@jemena.com.au on or before 30th September 2025.

Regulatory  Investment Test for Transmission (RIT-T) - Project Assessment Draft Report (PADR)

This project assessment draft report (PADR) is the second stage of the South Morang Supply Area RIT-T consultation process and has been jointly prepared by AusNet and JEN in accordance with the requirements of clause 5.16 of the National Electricity Rules (NER) and section 4.2 of the RIT-T Application Guidelines. This notice incorporates the assessment results of the credible options, providing draft conclusions on the proposed preferred option for addressing the identified need in the South Morang supply area.
