Street Lights

Lighting up our communities

Keeping your streets safe, well-lit, and efficient.

Streetlights play an important role in keeping our streets safe, visible, and welcoming after dark. At Jemena, we work with councils, developers, and the Department of Transport & Planning (DTP) to manage public lighting across our network.

We maintain over 72,000 streetlights across our electricity distribution area and are committed to providing the highest standard of service to councils, VicRoads, and the local community.

Reporting a Faulty Streetlight

If a streetlight isn’t working, flickering, or damaged, let us know.

Faults Hotline: 131 626 (for immediate safety issues)

Please provide the pole number (on the yellow tag). Jemena will investigate and arrange repairs. If another authority is responsible, we’ll direct you to the right contact.

If you’re outside the Jemena network, check your electricity bill for your local distribution operator.

Our Obligations

Jemena is responsible for providing maintenance services to the existing public lighting assets in accordance with the Public Lighting Code.

New Lighting – Council and VicRoads Obligations

Jemena is not the responsible authority for determining new lighting requirements.
If you would like new lighting installed, you must contact your local council (or VicRoads for defined arterial roads).
