Footscray West Zone Substation Rebuild
Planned works 29 September to 31 October
Jemena has temporarily paused planned transmission pole upgrade works across parts of Melbourne's north-west, including Yarraville, Footscray and West Footscray, while we take time to better understand community feedback.
The upcoming works surrounding Footscray West Zone Substation are unrelated to the paused upgrade. They are part of the final stages of the substation redevelopment, which began in 2023 and was initiated to replace ageing equipment to maintain a safe and reliable electricity supply for the local community.
During this period, there may be increased construction noise, temporary traffic and parking changes as well as some planned electricity outages throughout October.

We have temporarily paused these works while we take time to listen and better understand the feedback received.
