Jemena welcomes AER determination on 2025-2030 Pricing and Services Plan

May 15, 2025
  • The Australian Energy Regulator (AER) has handed down its final determination on Jemena Gas Network’s 2025-2030 Access Arrangement. The decision sets the prices that Jemena Gas Networks can charge customers over the next five years.
  • A typical residential customer will see a 1.5% or approximately $12 annual increase in network charges each year for the next five years.
  • Throughout the reset process, Jemena engaged with over 7,800 customers and held 99 engagement events which culminated in over 200 hours of customer engagement.

Energy infrastructure company, Jemena has today welcomed the services and pricing determination from the Australian Energy Regulator (AER).

As the largest gas distributor in New South Wales, Jemena safely and reliability delivers natural gas to provide hot water, heating, cooking and more to over 1.5 million homes and businesses every year.

The determination outlines Jemena’s service delivery and prices for its NSW gas network for the financial years covering 2025-30, and the role it will play in Australia’s energy transition.

Executive General Manager Jemena Networks, Shaun Reardon said the company was committed to ensuring the plan reflects the views of its customers.

“To develop our proposed pricing and services plan, we undertook extensive and significant engagement with our customers from across our network to understand what they want and value from us as their gas distributor,” said Mr Reardon.

“Jemena understands the pressures many Australians are facing as the cost of living increases and took steps to ensure Jemena’s customers can expect to see only a modest increase in network charges over the next five years. Our plan is designed to balance short- and long-term affordability, decarbonisation, safety, and reliability. This approach supports the energy transition on the path to net zero by 2050.

“Networks charges allow Jemena to operate the gas network safely and reliably, while also enabling us to invest in the future of the gas network, including making upgrades to help Australia and the energy sector transition to a net-zero future.

“We know from our customer engagement process that our customers want us to ready the gas network for a net-zero future and to invest in renewable gas projects. Jemena remains committed to investing in renewable gas connections to support our customers in lowering their carbon emissions.”

Jemena’s price reset will come into effect 1 July 2025.
