Jemena can point to an excellent environmental management record across its business.

The directors and managers of Jemena recognise their moral and legal liability to comply with all applicable environmental legislation. This commitment extends to ensuring that the organisation's operations do not place the environment at risk. We have an in-house team of environment professionals to advise and support the business.

Jemena proactively identifies the environmental aspects associated with its business activities and implements measures to continually improve its environmental performance. With the continued expansion of Jemena's business, the environmental management system will continue to expand and evolve to ensure best practice environmental performance is maintained for all current and future Jemena activities.

Throughout the year, programmes that educate and train employees in environmental matters promote an organisational culture that supports and promotes environmental responsibility. Jemena also participates in voluntary initiatives that aim to enhance environmental performance across industries and the general community. The Company is a signatory to the Australian Greenhouse Challenge.

Jemena embraces environmental management principles by maintaining compliance to the International standard ISO 14001 for proactive planning, sustainable development and continuous improvement. Jemena has made a commitment, through our Environmental Policy, to improve our environmental performance. Infrastructure, systems, committees and materials are used to manage the operational elements of environmental improvement.

Health Safety Environmental Policy

The HSE Policy is going to change. We will have a stand alone Environmental Policy which we are aiming to have finalised and signed off by the end of June 2008.

We are committed to:

• Providing a safe and healthy workplace, free of occupational injuries and illness;
• Creating a culture that puts HSE first through leadership, participation, training and development;
• Conducting our business in a way that protects, or enhances, community, safety, amenity and the natural environment;
• Continuous improvement in our HSE Performance;
• Compliance with all legal obligations as the minimum requirement for our Health, Safety and Environmental standards.

Wherever we operate we strive to achieve our goals through:

• Identifying, assessing and controlling hazards and risks;
• Setting, monitoring and communicating meaningful performance measures to employees and stakeholders;
• Actively identifying and implementing opportunities to improve HSE outcomes;
• Establishing and maintaining comprehensive HSE management systems, compliant with ISO14001 and AS/NZS 4801;
• Proactive participation in business, community and government programs to enhance community health and safety, and environmental sustainability.

In developing and pursuing our high standards in HSE performance we value:

• Management and supervisors provide visible leadership, adequate resources, and ensure workplace standards are implemented and maintained;
• The Board ensures there is a disciplined approach to the identification and management of risks across the business.
